Appointments For Pet Owners

Steps for Pet Owners:

  1. Obtain a Referral. A written referral from your veterinarian is required prior to your appointment with VMS. Your veterinarian can send the referral to us via fax.
  2. Bring Your Records. Please bring x-rays, any medication that your pet is or was taking, and your pharmacy’s name and phone number with you to your appointment.
  3. Prepare. Do not feed your pet the night before the appointment. If you’re scheduled for an endoscopy your pet will need to have fasted for 24 hours before the appointment. Water and medications may be continued. If your pet is a diabetic, please contact our office prior to fasting your pet or administering insulin.
  4. Leaving Your Pet. After you meet with a VMS specialist, you may be asked to leave your pet for the day.
  5. Payment. A deposit will be required at the time of patient admission and payment in full is required when your pet is released from VMS. We accept all major credit cards except American Express as well as cash or checks. (Please bring your driver’s license if you plan to pay by check.)
  6. Cancellation Notice. If possible, please provide at least 24-hours notice if you are unable to make your appointment.
  7. **Emergency Care. If you feel that your pet is in need of emergency medical attention, you are still required to call your veterinarian prior to contacting VMS. Outside of regular working hours, your veterinarian can fax us a referral at their earliest opportunity after the emergency has been addressed.

**Note: We are not an emergency clinic, but we do accept critical care patients on an emergency basis. Medically critical patients will be seen as a priority while we continue to meet the needs of our regularly scheduled appointments.
